IMX Bass Rods

Largemouth bass fishing is an American basic for anglers.

That doesn't mean the fishing's easy.

Maybe you began fishing by stalking the biggest bucketmouth you
could find in your local lake.

That's basic.

But that fish was the trophy of the lake, and didn’t get that way by being easy to catch.

That's the reason many anglers specialize in largemouth fishing their entire angling careers, and the fishing deserves the finest rods.

G.Loomis, the venerable rod maker, is introducing the IMX Bass Rods.

The company arguably makes the best conventional and spinning graphite rods, but this series is thorough, too.

Take a look at the models:

Among those models, 34 different rods are available.

G.Loomis introduced its first graphite rods in 1985.

The company introduced several more versions of graphite since then, including IMX.

That material “put us on the  map,” G.Loomis says.

That made the company the leader in graphite rods, it says, and IMX rods were Loomis’s first high-end poles, really.

IMX was one of the first materials with higher modulus and higher tensile strength.

That created lighter, more sensitive and stronger rods.

This new series of bass rods takes IMX to a whole new level, the company says.

That's because of improvements in IMX technology, along with new concepts in rod design.

The rods are as much as 15 percent lighter than the original.

Fuji K-Frame guides were added, helping to slide the line through,
and helping durability.

The guides also help protect the "tip-section from braided line wrap,"
the company says.

The Fuji ACS2 reel seat is included for comfort.

The tapers and actions of the different models are unique for each type of fishing.

The handle is full cork, like the originals, but slimmed down some.

That saves weight, like a split-grip handle would, but with the comfort and control of full cork, said one reviewer, in a video that's linked below.

The cork has somewhat of a hump at the front, slims down in the middle, and flares out some at the butt, he says.

These are sharp-looking rods.

They're also a classic look, but original, he says.

Here’s the great video on the series.

Plus there was no substantial increase in the price of the rods, and most are $295, and $315 is the highest, he says.

G.Loomis is also introducing new IMX rods for salmon and steelhead fishing in 27 models.

Largemouth bass fishing may be basic, in a way.

But that's good, because the fishing teaches lessons
that can be applied to all angling, and even life.

It certainly deserves the best rods.
