BlueTipz

A friend invited me ice-fishing.

“You won’t see a flag before me,”
he says.

He was talking about a flag that
flies up when a fish bites a hook
on an ice-fishing tip-up.

Sometimes on the trip I looked up
at the mountains, or told him a story,
or simply stared off into space.

While he started running off to a hole.

I didn’t even comprehend why he was running at first.

A fish was on!

There’s no need to keep your eyes peeled like that anymore.

BlueTipz have arrived! the company’s website says.

BlueTipz send an electronic alert to your smart phone when a bite tips the flag up on a tip-up.

BlueTipz clip on to the flag, and can be set to alert the phone either when your specific tip-ups are tripped, or when anybody’s are, like your buddy's in the next ice-fishing shanty.

When the device is set for your specific tip-ups, you name each individual tip-up, so you get a phone message like: 20-Foot Weedline just got a strike.

The range is up to 100 to 200 yards.

BlueTipz run on a lithium battery,
and are built for long battery life, about 600 fish or a few seasons, and the battery is easily replaced.

The device can also be handy for night fishing, like for walleyes, when seeing flags can be difficult.

BlueTipz also include a light, made to be bright so you can easily spot a tipped flag at night.
