Conflict Reel

Whenever Penn introduces a new reel, that’s newsworthy.

The latest, the Conflict, set to be introduced
in September, is a spinning reel, designed for inshore saltwater fishing, for catches from sea trout to tuna.

The reel is meant to deliver “top-line performance,” built to be light weight and
“smooth,” but capable of strong drag pressure, the company says.

The reel comes in eight models for 2- to 30-pound mono or 6- to 80-pound braid.

The reel might be Penn's best-looking – sort of stealthy and low key, with black-on-black colors.

The Conflict might look quiet, “(but) you’ll see it screams Penn craftsmanship and engineering,” Penn says.

Features include a metal body, a graphite rotor on smaller models, and an aluminum rotor on larger ones.

Features also include sealed, stainless-steel ball bearings, carbon-fiber drag washers, infinite anti-reverse, a superline spool, line-capacity rings, a heavy-duty aluminum bail and a foam Eva knob handle.

The Conflict is between Penn’s Conquer and Battle, and doesn’t really compare with the Spinfisher V, the company says.

That’s like comparing apples and oranges, apparently.

The Conflict is newsworthy for sure.
