Old Town Predator 13 Kayak

If a new kayak wins the Best Boat award at this year’s ICAST,
the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades,
that gets attention.

If arguably the most venerable canoe company makes the kayak,
that really gets attention.

Old Town has introduced the Predator 13 kayak that won the award
this month.

With a length of 13 feet 2 inches, weighing 72 pounds, the sit-on-top kayak took more than two years to design and produce, a labor of love, the company says.

The vessel was completely
designed to
be perfect for
fishing, it says.

Features include a polyethylene tri-hull meant for stability and tracking.

A three-stage seat can be lowered for paddling, raised for fishing or flipped out of the way for standing, like for poling or sight-casting.

A slip-resistant, ridged deck helps
keep you safe and the bottom dry.

Patented scupper holes with
one-way valves drain away water.

Various compartments keep
stored gear dry.

Several removable mounting plates
can be used for rod holders, fish
finders,GPS and so on, meant to eliminate drilling into the hull.

Side-mount paddle storage, molded paddle rests to free up hands and plenty more features are included.

Options include a Steady-Stand Bar, outriggers for extra stability and buoyancy, a trolling motor mount and more.

The company in August will also introduce the Predator MX, or Mixed Waters, kayak, a 12-footer with a slightly more rounded hull, for moving water.
