G. Loomis Umbrella Rig Rod | ||||
When umbrella rigs were introduced for largemouth bass fishing, you likely thought, great idea. You probably also thought, how am I going to cast that thing? Casting the rigs – a handful of rubber swim baits, imitating a baitfish school, connected with wire that looks like an umbrella – could be like casting a brush pile, G. Loomis, the rod company, says. Awkward, cumbersome, hard to handle, it says. So Loomis has introduced the NRX Umbrella Rig Rod. The tip is soft enough to load, but stiff enough to prevent line from overrunning the reel. It’s an NRX, the name for a series of rods introduced in 2010 that is the venerable company’s top-of-the-line. This is a high-quality rod, in other words, and the NRX makes it “insanely light with sensitivity off the charts,” Loomis says. That’s meant to allow the angler to feel how the rig is swimming. Loomis recommends that braided line be fished with umbrellas for strength and control. Great! you’re probably thinking about the rod. Tell me more, like sizes and prices, you’re thinking.
