Arribe 1200 Reel

One new company is creating
buzz for a new line of reels.

Arribe, founded in 2010,
has begun to roll out a prototype,
the Arribe 1200, for the public
to get a glimpse.

The 1200, in the photo, will be
the “top-end” model in the line,
the company says.

The reels are supposed to be introduced to the market before
the end of the year.

The 1200, meant for yellowfin tuna to sailfish and king mackerel, is a conventional, lever-drag, single-speed reel.

With a 6-to-1 gear ratio, the reel is designed to be compact or small and lightweight, weighing 16 ounces.

The spool can hold up to 525 yards of 50-pound braid or 325 yards of 25-pound monofilament.

The frame is machined aluminum, and the gears are copper, and the components are titanium.

The price for this top-end model is probably going to be between $750 and $800.

A one-year warranty will cover replacement or repair of manufacturer’s defects for the original owner.

Something entirely new in the industry, the company says, will be a warranty that can be purchased annually for up to five years for annual maintenance like replacement of bearings and worn or corroded parts.

That’s like getting a new reel each year, the company says.

This is the company’s first reel, and it already produces rods.

Danny Arribe, the founder, is a lifelong angler who’s competed in both salt and freshwater, the company says.

You can't buy the reel yet, but you can check it out.
