UMGA Surf Rod

Anglers want to
fish with the best rods, usually.

But they can’t
always afford
the best.

Now they can.

Tica, maker of
some of the best
rods, has introduced
the UMGA Surf Rod.

The rod, with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $65, was designed to be economical yet high quality.

This is the company’s first foray into less expensive rods.

The UMGA delivers the same action as the company’s UKGA Surf Rods, the next step up in price, the company says.

The graphite UMGA Surf Rods, with composite cork handles for durability, are designed to be strong but light and sensitive.

The guides aren’t Fuji, the best, but are high-quality Zirconia, the company says.

Four models -- 7, 8, 9 and 10 feet long -- are available.

The 7- and 8-footers are great for pier and jetty fishing, and the 9- and 10-footers are perfect for all-around angling, the company says.

The rods can also be great for fishing large reservoirs, it says.

The photos of the metallic, smoke colored blanks don’t do the rod justice, Tica says.

The rod looks very attractive, it says.

So does the price.
