Spot Hug

People say you treat your boat
like a baby.

But do you let your baby out of
your sight like your boat?

Your precious gem spends many
hours alone at the marina or on the
trailer in the yard.

Well, now you can keep an eye on your boat at all times, too.

Spot Hug is a satellite-based security system for a boat.

When the vessel, protected by Spot Hug, is moved more than 500 meters, a satellite alert is sent to a monitoring
center to notify authorities.

Spot Hug then sends an alert, including the vessel's GPS location, every 5 minutes, so the authorities can track and find the boat.

Spot Hug can also notify you through text message or e-mail.

The device can also be used to send
daily status updates to you about the boat’s location and whether the security system is functioning properly.

Sensors are also available to monitor battery voltage; the bilge; door or latch intrusion; smoke or fire; and more.

From top to bottom:
The keypad that's installed on the boat, the electronics that track and are installed on the boat, and the keypad that the user carries. Spot Hug is entirely wireless.

Updates about the status of all of that can be sent to you in daily text messages or e-mails.

Like the company’s other satellite systems, Spot Hug can also be used to call emergency assistance on the waters.

That includes an SOS feature to gain emergency help, like in life-threatening situations, and a Help feature to call for less serious assistance, like boat towing if the vessel breaks down.

Spot service providers can
be notified, or your personal contacts can be notified in text messages or e-mails.

Spot Hug can also be used to
let loved ones track your voyage on a Google map.

The OK function can be used to let them know you’re okay on a trip, like checking in, with the press of a button.

Now your baby -- your boat -- is never out of sight.

Spot Hug began arriving at stores this year.
