Shimano's
Trevala S Spinning Rods

Shimano’s Butterfly
Jigging System
revolutionized
blue-water
jigging for tuna
and other big game.

But think about it:
Do more anglers
fish farther from
shore or closer?

Closer, of course.

Although the original system, including the Butterflies and
Shimano’s matching Trevala Rods, were the bee’s knees in
waters 150 feet or deeper, jigs built to fish shallower could be handy.

So Shimano introduced the Shallow Water Butterfly Jigs
for the 2010 fishing season. (Click here to watch a video
on the shallow jigs, and see a photo of them at the bottom
of this page.)

Late in 2010, the company began introducing rods
meant to be fished with the shallow jigs:
Shimano’s Trevala S Spinning Jigging Rods.

The rods have been fully introduced this year.

Shimano’s Trevala S Spinning Rods are built to be
fished in 150 feet or shallower with the Shallow
Butterfly Jigs at places like wrecks, reefs or rocks.

The rods are built with the company’s blank called the C4S.

The blank is made from fiberglass-reinforced, high-modulus
graphite, allowing the rods to be thin in diameter, lightweight
and sensitive, but strong.

All Trevala rods, the originals and the new, are designed so
anglers can feel the irregular, aggressive action of Butterfly
Jigs, and the rods are made to be agile.

The Butterfly System, both the original and new, uses shorter, more powerful rods and smaller, high-speed reels.

The Trevala S Spinning Rods, available in six models, each with medium-fast action, for each type of Shallow Butterfly Jig, feature a one-piece blank, split-grip handles, Fuji Alconite Guides, and a Fuji reel seat.
