Doctor Sonar,
AKA Bruce Samson, M.D., a professional walleye champion,
has introduced two instructional DVDs
about sonar.

The first, Understanding Sonar and Interpreting the Display, Part 1, Basic, explains what sonar is, and how to interpret the screen to identify fish, baitfish, structure like underwater trees, and hard and soft bottom.

The second, Part 2, Advanced, assumes you understand Part 1,
and helps you understand “what your sonar is actually ‘seeing,’”
the company says.

In the DVDs, underwater video is compared with sonar to illustrate what the sonar is “seeing.”

Lowrance color sonar is used in the DVDs, but all sonar displays are based on the same principals, the company says.
