We don’t make the products you buy. We make the products you buy better. That was a trademark in famous advertisements from a company
in But aren’t most fishing products like that? Almost all are improved, not really new. How much they are improved becomes Here’s one of the more innovative products introduced in angling SpiderWire UltraCast FluoroBraid is a braid that sinks like fluorocarbon. Synthetic braids like the original SpiderWire, introduced a decade ago, became known for qualities including strength and castability. But slack in the line, because traditional braid floated, was one drawback, if the line had any. Fluorocarbon line, another recent innovation, decreased slack, because the line was the same density as water. SpiderWire’s FluoroBraid combines the two. A material called Gore fluoropolymer, a breakthrough, SpiderWire says, is combined with the Dyneema in the original SpideWire. FluoroBraid is made to combine braid’s strength and castability with the quicker hook sets and sensitivity from less slack. Available in moss green, FluoroBraid comes in eight sizes from 10-pound to 80-pound test, ranging in diameter from .008 to .018 inches. FluoroBraid is great for casting lures with more power, pitching them into heavy cover with less worry about break-offs, tossing them on windy days when fast sinking helps, or trolling for extra lure depths. Some might think the synthetic braids introduced in recent years were themselves spanking new ideas. Actually, they were new versions of one of the earliest fishing lines: braids made from natural fibers like cotton or linen. They were considerable improvements, and FluoroBraid appears to be, too.
