From the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife:
Trout season opened Saturday, April 7, at 8 a.m. All trout waters were stocked with more than 181,000 fish from the Pequest Hatchery. Stocking continues until May 25, with many waters receiving fish weekly. More than 570,000 brook, brown, and rainbow trout will be stocked by season's end - and that doesn't include the large trout leftover from the fall stocking that are still out there. These fish measured 14-16 inches over five months ago!
Biologist Pat Hamilton provided a Trout Fishing Outlook for 2007, highlighting some of the state's hot spots, as well as changes for this year. Visit
