From the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife on May 26 :
The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is informing saltwater anglers that the opening of the black sea bass season is this Saturday, May 28 - just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.
DEP Commissioner Bob Martin signed the new regulations on May 25, 2011.
The season runs from May 28 - September 11; November 1 - December 31 while the size and possession limit remains the same as last year at 12.5 inches and 25 fish, respectively.
Anglers and for-hire vessels are also reminded that NJ recently implemented the NJ Saltwater Recreational Registry Program (NJSRRP) on May 4, 2011.
Prior to going out black sea bass fishing, or carrying passengers to go black sea bass fishing, you need to register with the NJSRRP.
Registration is only available online by visiting the website
http://saltwaterregistry.nj.gov/.
This program was established to exempt NJ anglers and for-hire vessels from registering with the federal survey and the $15.00 feed associated with that registry.
